
7 Steps to Create a Project Plan for Criminal Justice Reform at Your School:

Set Your Goal
Define the purpose of your project. What is the main outcome you hope to achieve with your project?

Assemble Your Team
Find a group of students, friends, or classmates who are interested in restorative justice and the criminal justice system.

Approval From Administration
Check with the administration at your school and obtain its permission to organize a project based on criminal justice reform.

Location
Find a location at your school that will serve as a weekly meeting spot, and will become an important meeting space encouraging conversation, imagination, and overall strategy.

Weekly Meeting
Be prepared to meet at school on a regular basis once the school administration approves your project. Form an agenda for each meeting to discuss the operations of your project and campus wide events to enegage the larger school community. If you cannot acquire a meeting room at school, you can also schedule virtually.

Logistics & Timing
After forming the club, spend the initial meetings working with your group on the following agenda items:
· Reach out to larger organizations.
· Connect over email, create a website, and look for internships within larger foundations.

Keep It Going!
A few things to keep in mind:
· Check in regularly with your group members about what is and not working.
· Celebrate small wins! *Navigating the criminal justice system can be daunting.
· It is important to create a positive atmosphere.
· Mentor future leaders for you project to last long-term.
